5Great double boiler for small portions!  Jun 14, 2010 By Brian Campbell
This little boiler is great for when you need small sizes. My use involves not using the lid, but the fact that the lid is glass helps so I can see what's going on when the pan is covered. The seal of the top pan onto the bottom pan is firm but not too tight so that some steam can escape. I bought this pan to make homemade clotted cream and it is perfect for that because the small size increases the density of the cream layer. It's exactly what I would recommend if you are interested in the art of clotted cream. The top pan does not sit upright when empty and sitting on a flat surface (the handle is too heavy) but that's the only imperfection and it's easy to get around (once you put anything in it, it stays upright). Easily washed in the dishwasher. Recommended!

3Not bad considering it is the only one available at a reasonable price...  Feb 08, 2011 By E. Daniel "ZundapMan"
For a long time (I'm 68 years old) I've missed my mother's 1950's vintage Revere Ware (Made in USA) stainless steel with copper cladding on the heating surfaces set of double boilers. I was getting by with a two quart unit similar to this one, but so many times, I needed something smaller. We cook for two people. This pot is perfect for re-heating left overs or thoroughly warming something you have taken out of the freezer and don't want to "rubberize" using the microwave to heat it through. The old Revere Ware pots were thick enough to prevent warping from overheating unless it was extreme periods of time. This one has an aluminum composition bottom that heats well and probably won't crack or warp if you accidentally let all the water boil off as long as you catch it fairly quickly. The glass "see through" lid fits well, as does the top section when the unit is being used as a double boiler. This prevents evaproation of the heating water, etc. The stainless handles don't heat up under normal use.

4convenient, but has some issues  Feb 08, 2011 By Alex Gittens "the limiter"
I got this double boiler mainly because I was tired of burning milk while trying to make oatmeal. On that score, it does an excellent job (as it should!), and I've also found it convenient for cooking vegetables without losing nutrients to excess water. It is the perfect size for a one person household, or if you regularly need to heat up small quantities of milk.

Two things to be aware of. First, there's a groove on the inside of the insert, corresponding to the exterior bulge that allows it to sit on the bottom pan. This is very annoying when it comes to cleaning--- I often find myself having to rescrub the insert to remove oatmeal residue that stubbornly gathered in the groove. Indeed, almost no matter what I cook, I have to spend extra effort to clean that groove. Second, the lid is nicely constructed (I really love the ultrasturdy way the metal handle is fastened to the glass) except for the fact that the plastic sealing around the handle joins started coming off from the first time I washed it. This hasn't yet caused a problem, and I'm not sure what the purpose of that sealing even is, since the joins look so sturdy already, but it's worth noting.

5Love this small double boiler!  Apr 23, 2011 By Sanmar
I've used mine now almost every morning for a year. Like so much I ordered one for my niece's home since I am there a lot. I can easily prepare oatmeal from scratch (steel cut oats, rolled oats, wheat or oat bran, ground flax seed) for 1 to 5 people. My 15 month and 2.5 year old great nephews love my oatmeal so much their mom started making it using this pan as well. If the bottom pan gets a little cloudy looking just boil a little vinegar water in it and wipe it out then wash good.

5love it  Mar 13, 2013 By Loclynn
This is perfect for making everything from chocolite candy to bee's wax to the home m herbalist. I organically got this to cook cannabis butter. It makes the best butter I have ever had and is small enough to mad affordable butter at that.
